Archon Dues

Description

For what reason does the Archon Alumni Association solicit and collect dues?

As it has been stated many times, “the purpose of our organization is to perpetuate our brotherhood and do service for the college from which we were founded”.  Beginning with the creation and adoption of an alumni constitution in 1966, the attainment of these two goals has become an expanding realization.  Here is a list of some of the purposes for which your dues are applied. 

1. Communication:  Our goal has been to increase interaction between the elected board of trustees and the alumni membership, as well as communication among alumni brothers.
   • • Website: (archonalumni.org). We have maintained a website for many years and are now working with a professional web builder and expect the site to be much more informative and interesting.  
     • Letters:  Printing, printing supplies, and postage.  
     • People Search: We are constantly updating our mailing and email list through a data service that has allowed us to recover lost brothers’ contact information.
2. Bereavement:  We try to recognize the passing of brothers with a card of condolence, flowers, or a donation to a cause or organization designated by the family.
3. Brothers Helping Brothers:  From time to time a brother finds himself in a situation where we can be of assistance.
4. Tax service:  Because we are a successful 5013c, it is very important we maintain correct records and compliance with governmental taxing agencies.  We employ a CPA to help us with this.
5. Insurance:  Like all organizations operating in today’s litigious culture, we believe it is prudent that we protect our organization and those who share in its administration.
6. Other Purchases In the last several years we have bought Two external hard drives and a high-speed scanner.  Our archives are bulging with photos and documents that are a treasure house of our history and collective memories that you, our alumni, created as actives.  The scanner and hard drives enable us to save and protect these recollections for Archon men of the future.  The daily business of the alumni association also generates many documents and information that are important we save.
